This position combines practical electrical knowledge with technical drafting and documentation skills to create complete drawing packages from concept through manufacturing and field installation. Candidates may come from backgrounds such as electricians, panel builders, controls technicians, or technical electrical programs.
Electrical Drafting, Design Documentation, and 3D Modeling
Education Degree, diploma, technical training, or equivalent hands-on experience in electrical technology, controls, or automation. Practical experience in industrial electrical systems, control panels, or automation will be considered in lieu of education.
Department Engineering
Electrical Drafting, Design Documentation, and 3D Modeling
- Create detailed 2D drawings, 3D models, and documentation packages for industrial control panels, and electrical installations based on designs and direction provided by the Electrical Design Group.
- Develop complete project drawing packages including
- Electrical schematics
- Panel layouts
- Panel Room equipment layouts
- Detailed, dimensioned drawings for installation
- Wiring diagrams
- One-line diagrams
- Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Review project documentation for technical accuracy, scope, and compliance.
- Support design revisions during fabrication and project execution.
- Work closely with electrical design group, electricians, and project teams, to ensure successful project execution.
- Assist with troubleshooting, startup, and commissioning support as needed.
- Design in accordance with applicable codes and standards including NEC (NFPA 70), NFPA 79, UL 508A, and relevant ISA/IEC standards.
- Ensure proper wire routing, grounding, labeling, component spacing, and safe design practices.
