EmpireWorks is one of the nation's leading reconstruction, exterior painting, waterproofing, and commercial restoration contractors. For more than 20 years, we have successfully delivered thousands of projects across multiple states, providing exceptional quality, safety, and customer service. As we expand into California's K-12 and Higher Education construction market, we are seeking an experienced Regional Account Manager to help establish and grow this division.
This is not an entry-level sales position.
We are seeking an established industry professional with existing relationships throughout California's K-12 school districts, community college districts, universities, construction management firms, architectural firms, and general contractors.
The ideal candidate understands how educational construction projects are developed, funded, procured, and awarded. You will be responsible for creating opportunities that position EmpireWorks as the preferred painting and coatings contractor for educational facilities.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a strategic business development plan focused on K-12 and Higher Education markets.
- Build relationships with:
- School District Facility Directors
- Bond Program Managers
- Construction Managers
- Program Management firms
- General Contractors
- Architects
- Educational facility decision makers
- Identify painting, waterproofing, and exterior restoration opportunities before projects are advertised.
- Track upcoming bond-funded capital improvement programs.
- Attend industry events including CASH, CMAA, CASBO, COAA, AIA, and local construction networking organizations.
- Meet with owners, architects, and construction managers to introduce EmpireWorks' capabilities.
- Generate qualified leads that convert into estimating opportunities and awarded contracts.
- Coordinate with estimating and operations teams during proposal development.
- Assist with RFQs, RFPs, and prequalification packages.
- Maintain an active CRM with client activity, pursuits, and opportunity pipeline.
- Represent EmpireWorks with professionalism and integrity throughout the California educational construction market.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 7 years of business development experience in commercial construction.
- Existing relationships within California K-12 and/or Higher Education construction.
- Proven history of generating construction opportunities and contract awards.
- Strong understanding of California public works procurement.
- Experience with lease-leaseback, design-bid-build, design-build, or job order contracting is preferred.
- Excellent presentation, communication, and networking skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.

Within your first year you will:
- Develop strategic relationships with key educational clients.
- Build a qualified pipeline of K-12 and Higher Education opportunities.
- Position EmpireWorks on upcoming bond-funded projects.
- Help establish EmpireWorks as a recognized contractor within the California education market.
