JOB SUMMARY:

The Human Resources Generalist provides general guidance and support to managers and employees across a broad range of HR disciplines, including employee relations, compliance, HRIS, compensation, and policy administration. This position interprets policies, analyze employee and organizational issues, recommends solutions, and ensures compliance with company policies and employment laws.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Trouble shoot and resolve routine HR-related issues within assigned areas of responsibility; provide recommendations and guidance to management regarding HR best practices.
  • Interpret and administer HR policies, practices, and procedures to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company requirements.
  • Consult with managers and employees, providing guidance on policies, employee relations matters, workplace concerns, performance management, and corrective action processes; escalate complex matters as appropriate.
  • Facilitate training and provide guidance to managers and supervisors regarding HR programs, policy changes, and process improvements.
  • Develop, analyze, and distribute scheduled and ad hoc HR reporting; identify trends, potential risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Administer and audit HR systems and employee records to ensure data integrity, compliance, and operational effectiveness.
  • Manage employee separation processes, including determining appropriate processes, communications, and documentation requirements in accordance with company policies, including but not limited to; notifications, surveys and employee communications.
  • Review unemployment claims, evaluate supporting documentation, prepare responses, and coordinate with internal stakeholders regarding claim management.
  • Assist with Leave of Absence and reasonable accommodation requests and tracking as needed.
  • Review employee change sheets to ensure accuracy and meets applicable company, local, state, and federal requirements; work with management to resolve discrepancies. Process changes in HRIS system as needed.
  • Review assigned performance reviews for accuracy and consult with managers on process requirements, policy compliance, and employee relations considerations. Escalate complex matters as appropriate.
  • Participate as needed with job evaluation and job description process as needed. May include analysis of roles and responsibilities of company jobs, provide evaluation and recommendation of positioning within the organizations pay programs, finalizing job descriptions and posting in applicable systems.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding employee information, personnel actions, organizational initiatives, investigations, and legal matters.
  • Build effective working relationships with employees, managers, and business partners to support organizational objectives.
  • Maintain strong knowledge regarding company policies, procedures, and employment practices; provide guidance regarding their application.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and recommend changes that increase efficiency, compliance, and employee experience.
  • Create an environment of ownership and personal accountability where each person is responsible and accountable for their performance.
  • Work safely at all times. Adhere to all applicable safety policies. Comply with all company policies, procedures and standards.

 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Lead or participate in HR projects and initiatives that support business and departmental objectives.
  • Research HR trends, employment law developments, and best practices and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Keep HR leadership informed of emerging employee relations, compliance, or operational issues and recommend solutions.
  • Utilize HR technology and reporting tools to improve service delivery, data accuracy, and operational effectiveness.
  • Provide cross-functional support and back-up coverage within HR as needed.
  • Participate in audits, investigations, and compliance-related activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Leadership.
  • Work within and promote corporate values.

 

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Maintain proficiency with the current HCM systems.
  • Maintain strong communicate with all levels of employees and managers.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Federal, AZ, NV and CA employment laws and their interpretation. Includes specific knowledge of legal hiring practices, regulations and organizational policies, ERISA and Department of Labord, including OFCCP, statues.
  • Maintain relationships with internal and external clients; including occasional travel.
  • Maintain a high level of concentration and a consistent work pace in a frequently interrupted environment.
  • Must be able to meet all safety requirements for applicable safety policies and use of all required safety equipment.
  • Must have acceptable attendance to meet all company standards and requirements.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of progressively responsible Human Resources experience, including employee relations, policy administration, compliance, HRIS, or related HR functions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Experience utilizing HRIS systems and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Professional HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent) a plus.
  • Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English.
