Counter Person

Job Overview
We are seeking a friendly and efficient Counter Person to join our team at a busy food service establishment. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, handling food orders, and maintaining a clean and organized work environment. This role offers an opportunity to develop skills in food preparation, POS systems, and retail operations within a fast-paced restaurant. Prior experience in food service or retail is preferred, but we welcome motivated individuals eager to learn. The Counter Person plays a vital role in creating a welcoming atmosphere for customers while ensuring smooth daily operations.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly and take their orders accurately using POS systems
• Prepare and assemble some food items according to established recipes and safety standards
• Handle cash transactions, process payments, and give correct change efficiently
• Upsell menu items to enhance customer experience and increase sales opportunities
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the counter area, including food handling and bussing duties
• Ensure food safety standards are met by following proper sanitation procedures
• Assist with basic food preparation tasks as needed in the kitchen or café area
• Manage time effectively during busy periods to serve customers promptly
• Restock supplies and ensure all equipment is functioning properly
• Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and creating a positive dining experience

Requirements

• Previous experience in food service, quick service restaurants, or retail environments is preferred but not required
• Familiarity with POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS is a plus
• Basic math skills for cash handling, sales, and retail math calculations
• Strong customer service skills with a friendly attitude and good communication abilities. We need applicants to have great customer skills and communicate with the team and customers.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
• Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper food handling procedures
• Experience with food preparation, serving, bussing, or kitchen operations is advantageous
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting supplies or moving around the counter area
