Position Summary
Empire Office, through our Model Home Interiors (MHI) division, is seeking a Warehouse Manager to oversee operations at our Elkridge, Maryland warehouse. This role is responsible for supervising a staff of approximately 30 employees, managing daily inbound/outbound operations, and ensuring accurate inventory and timely delivery in support of furniture projects. The Warehouse Manager will work closely with Sales, Account Management, and Installation teams to meet customer expectations and business goals. This is a full-time role based in Elkridge, MD.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise a staff of 30, including warehouse staff, drivers, and helpers.
- Set weekly schedules for drivers and helpers, confirm and approve all timecards.
- Manage daily receiving and outbound operations, ensuring all pre-sold orders are processed accurately and on time.
- Review the scheduler’s daily “pulls” report and meet with the team each morning to plan and allocate work accordingly.
- Supervise the loading and unloading of trucks, ensuring proper handling and identification of all products.
- Oversee the return process and coordinate with the sales team to manage product disposition in a timely manner.
- Maintain cycle count programs to track inventory accuracy for both pre-sold and asset inventory; implement improvements as needed.
- Coordinate with Sales, Account Management, and other internal teams to align warehouse activities with customer expectations.
- Ensure trucks and warehouse equipment are regularly serviced and maintained.
- Communicate with employees in the field to troubleshoot issues and provide timely resolutions.
- Train, mentor, and coach staff while providing development opportunities and holding the team accountable for performance.
- Develop and implement process improvements to drive efficiency and accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, workplace safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment.
Skills & Qualifications
- Salary range: $65,000 – $75,000 annually, based on experience.
- 5–10 years of warehouse operations or management experience, preferably in furniture or logistics.
- High school diploma required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Familiarity with inventory accuracy programs and asset management.
- Proven ability to plan, forecast, and delegate daily work effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word); comfortable learning warehouse management systems.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience supervising both employees and contractors in a warehouse environment.
- Patience, adaptability, and strong interpersonal skills, bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
- Solid understanding of workplace safety and compliance requirements.
- Ability to lift and move up to 75 lbs. when needed.
- Self-driven with excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
