CNC Setup Machinist / Programmer

Full-Time | 1st Shift Only | $25-$35/hour
Empire Machine & Fabrication is looking for an experienced CNC Setup Machinist / Programmer to join our growing machine shop.
This is a hands-on setup position with a strong lathe focus. We need someone who can take a job from the print and raw material through setup, prove-out, and a good first piece with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
Set up, prove out, and run CNC lathes and mills
Read prints and determine proper setup, tooling, and workholding
Set tools, offsets, speeds, and feeds
Edit programs at the machine and troubleshoot issues
Inspect first pieces and production parts to print
Diagnose tooling, tolerance, finish, chatter, and setup problems
Document proven setups for repeat production
Experience We're Looking For
Strong CNC lathe setup experience
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Solid blueprint reading and inspection skills
Comfortable taking a job from print to a conforming first piece
Haas and/or Fanuc control experience preferred
Fusion 360 CAM programming experience is a plus
Live-tool and Y-axis lathe experience is a plus
This is not a basic machine-operator position. We are looking for someone who understands the entire setup process and can keep work moving without needing every step laid out for them.
Pay is based on experience and demonstrated ability.
Schedule: Full-time, 1st shift, Monday-Friday
Location: Clayton, NC - in person
Pay: $26.18 - $38.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
