What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior CNC Machinist/Programmer position at Empire Group?
Senior CNC Programmer / Machinist
Location: Attleboro, MA
Company: Empire Group USA
Empire Group is a mission-critical prototyping and low-volume manufacturing partner serving defense, aerospace, medical, and advanced technology customers. We specialize in complex, high-consequence work where quality, judgment, and accountability matter.
We’re looking for a Senior CNC Programmer / Machinist to play a key role in building and scaling our CNC operation.
This is not a button-pushing role. You’ll be trusted to think, program, troubleshoot, and execute.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
• Program, set up, and run CNC mills (and lathes if applicable) in a prototype / low-volume environment
• Take parts from print to finished component, including CAM programming, proving programs, and first-article execution
• Interpret complex prints with tight tolerances and GD&T
• Select tooling, fixtures, and machining strategies appropriate for one-off and short-run work
• Troubleshoot machining issues, optimize processes, and adjust programs as needed
• Maintain machines, tooling, and a clean, organized work environment
• Collaborate with engineering, additive, and finishing teams to deliver complete solutions
• Help improve CNC workflows, documentation, and best practices as the department grows
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
• 5 years CNC machining and programming experience (prototype experience strongly preferred)
• Strong CAM programming experience (SolidCAM / SolidWorks or similar)
• Deep understanding of machining fundamentals, tooling, materials, and setups
• Confident reading and interpreting GD&T
• Comfortable working independently and making judgment calls
• Pride in craftsmanship, quality, and doing things the right way
• Willingness to help shape and improve how CNC is done at Empire
Formal degrees are less important than real-world experience and capability.
WHY THIS ROLE IS DIFFERENT
• High-mix, interesting work …not production boredom
• Direct impact on how CNC evolves at Empire
• Respect for skill, judgment, and experience
• Opportunity to grow with a company that’s investing in advanced manufacturing
BENEFITS
• Competitive pay (commensurate with experience)
• 401(k) with matching
• Health, dental, vision, and life insurance
• Paid time off
• Stable workload with room to grow
