SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the General Manager, the Auto Parts Delivery Driver (APDD) is a key link between the company and its customer base of collision repair shops in the region.  The goal for each APDD is to provide excellent customer service by making prompt and courteous deliveries of customer orders in a safe, timely and efficient manner and convey the company’s value proposition of high-quality parts and exceptional customer service.

The successful candidate will be a capable driving professional with demonstrated experience in delivering and customer service.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Operate commercial company vehicles safely and efficiently to assure safe transportation of parts, returns, and collections to and from customers and our corporate offices.

• Working knowledge of the rules and regulations involved in the safe operation of automotive equipment and observe traffic laws, follow established traffic and transportation procedures, and maintain defensive driving at all times.  

• Establishes and maintains rapport with current customers, always remaining aware of, and addressing their needs. Handle customer issues and concerns proactively and promptly, advocating for the customer while adhering to the policies and balancing the needs of the company.

• Loads and unloads parts safely, arranging cargo to avoid damage. Verifies the contents and condition of inventory loads against shipping papers. Maintains a timely schedule and completes all deliveries as planned.

• Maintains dispatch logs, presents billing statements, collects signatures, and turns in receipts and payments received from deliveries.

• Reports delays, accidents, changes in route assignment, mechanical problems encountered with vehicles or other traffic and transportation situations, complications with delivery, payment, or to give our corporate office notice of a return.  

• Maintains accurate, up-to-date records on vehicle maintenance and condition reports, incident reports, and accident reports--as scheduled, necessary or as requested from management.  

• As appropriate, highlight Empire’s advantages versus competitors, such as high part availability, easy ordering (online/phone/fax), frequent deliveries, and streamlined returns.  Relay company policies and procedures.

• Provide other services or related duties as requested by management and simple vehicle maintenance (fueling a vehicle, clearing snow and frost from windshields and mirrors, etc.)

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

• Previous commercial vehicle driving experience is required.

• A clean Motor Vehicle Record and valid Driver’s License are required.

• Ability to present oneself in a professional, courteous manner.

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

• General knowledge of and interest in automobiles, including parts and functionality, is desired.

• A high school degree or equivalent is required.

• Multi-lingual skills are desired.
