The Role
We are seeking a strategic and dynamic Assistant Plant Manager to lead our efforts in Findlay, Ohio. This role is responsible for the day-to-day activities and continual improvement of the operations team. The ideal candidate is an innovative, data-driven leader with a passion for people and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and growth.
What You’ll Do
- Business Management: 100% responsible for the day-to-day operations of the facility operations including Production, Quality, Materials and Logistics. Adhere to production schedules to meet customer requirements. Lead department meetings, high-level corrective actions, operations reviews, safety observations tours, 5S walks, and the general promotion of continual improvement as a business culture.
- Team Leadership & Development: Develop plans to improve the skills of each person in the department and monitor overall effectiveness. Direct the shop floor operations in a manner that promotes an atmosphere of Safety, Employee and Customer satisfaction and teamwork. Create an environment of clear expectations and accountability to maintain all plant, corporate and business plan objectives.
- Quality, Problem Solving & Reporting: Lead operations group to meet or exceed all department objectives. Provide written action plans for any required corrective action and ongoing improvement. Ensure team member involvement in corrective actions and continual improvement. Comply to all company directed policies and procedures developed by the quality system. Adhere to all quality requirements as outlined in the control plans.
- Customer & Supplier Relationships: Support customer and Emotiv presentations as they relate to items of production responsibility.
- Safety & Other Duties: Foster a safety-first environment by ensuring accidents and incidents occurrence and severity is reduced and eliminated. Comply with corporate, State, and Federal health, safety and environmental regulations. Adhere to and promote the Vision and Culture Operating Philosophy and observe the rules, regulation and direction of the Employee Handbook. Other responsibilities as deemed necessary.
- Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing or management discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 7 years related experience in automotive manufacturing environment or JIT Assembly and Sequencing environment.
- Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization, including executive leadership.
- Strong leadership abilities and organizational skills, with the ability to delegate and work well under pressure.
- Problem solving skills, proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Normal amount of sitting and standing, average mobility to move around an office and plant environment, able to conduct normal amount of work on a computer.
- Up to 15% of travel required; valid driver’s license required.
