What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kennel Technician position at Emory Veterinary Clinic?
Responsibilities:
- Provide daily care and supervision for animals in a kennel environment
- Feed, water, and exercise animals according to their individual needs
- Clean and sanitize kennels, cages, and common areas
- Monitor the health and well-being of animals and report any concerns to the appropriate staff.
- Assist with grooming tasks such as bathing, brushing, and nail trimming
- Administer medications or treatments as directed by veterinary staff
- Handle animals safely and securely during various procedures or interactions
- Maintain accurate records of animal care, behavior, and medical treatments
Skills:
- Experience in animal handling is preferred
- Knowledge of veterinary practices and procedures is a plus
- Familiarity with kennel operations and pet grooming techniques is beneficial
- Ability to restrain animals safely and effectively when necessary
- Strong attention to detail in cleaning and sanitizing kennel areas
- Physical stamina for heavy lifting and long periods of standing or walking
- Excellent communication skills to interact with clients and veterinary staff
- Compassion for animals and a commitment to their well-being
