JOB TITLE: Instructional Coach Job DescriptionREPORTS TO: Building Administrator and SuperintendentJOB SUMMARY: The Instructional Coach partners with teachers in a collaborative, student-centered process designed to improve instruction and strengthen student outcomes. The coach works under the guidance of the instructional leader and the building administrator, with the primary focus on modeling effective planning, instruction, and reflection practices in classrooms. The role centers on building positive, trusting relationships with educators, empowering them through coaching cycles, and supporting their professional growth. Secondary roles may include guiding teachers in analyzing student data, offering resources, in a supportive capacity.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Build strong, positive relationships with teachers to create a culture of trust, growth, and collaboration.Model effective instructional practices in classrooms, demonstrating research-based strategies that promote student success.Assist teachers in analyzing student performance data and using it to inform instruction when requested or appropriate.Partner with teachers in coaching cycles that focus on student learning goals, including co-planning, co-teaching, and reflection.Support teachers in using student data (formative assessments, exit tickets, student work) to make informed instructional decisions.Help teachers develop measurable learning goals and reflect on instructional impact to ensure continuous student improvement.Collaborate with administrators to align instructional coaching with building and district priorities.Promote collective efficacy by encouraging shared ownership of student success among teachers and within professional learning communities (PLCs).Stay current on educational research and best practices, providing job-embedded professional learning aligned with district priorities.Provide mentoring and support for new teachers to strengthen classroom practice and confidence.Advocate for a school-wide culture of reflection, collaboration, and continuous improvement.Participate in professional development opportunities and professional learning to remain current in effective instructional strategies.Act ethically and confidentially in all aspects of employment, following district and building policies and the chain of command.Perform school-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.QUALIFICATIONS: Master teacher with extensive experience in effective classroom instruction.Strong knowledge of curriculum, instructional strategies, assessment practices, and student learning needs.Skilled in modeling, observing, and providing constructive feedback to teachers.Strong interpersonal skills including communication, problem-solving, flexibility, and patience.Ability to support teachers in reflective practice and professional growth.
