Position Overview:

The Charter Township of Emmett is seeking a detail-oriented and trustworthy individual to assist in managing the financial operations of the Treasurer’s Office. The Deputy Treasurer performs a variety of fiscal, administrative, and clerical duties to ensure accurate recordkeeping, compliance with State and Local regulations, and excellent service to the public.

Key Responsibilities:

· Assist the Treasurer in the collection, receipt, and deposit of all Township funds, taxes, and fees.

· Reconcile bank statements, cash drawers, and financial reports.

· Maintain accurate records of tax collections, receipts, and disbursements.

· Prepare and process receipts, invoices, and account adjustments.

· Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.

· Support the annual property tax billing and collection process.

· Interact with residents, vendors, and other departments in a courteous and professional manner.

· Answering Phones and directing calls

· Serve as acting Treasurer in the absence of the Treasurer.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

· High School Diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred.

· Minimum of two (2) years of experience in bookkeeping, municipal finance, or office administration.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with BS&A or similar municipal software preferred.

· Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.

· Ability to handle sensitive financial information with discretion.

· Strong communication and customer service skills.

· Bondable as required by law.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 36 per week
