What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pastor of Worship position at Emmanuel Church?
Summary of Role
The Centralized Pastor of Worship is responsible for establishing the culture and ensuring the execution of Emmanuel’s worship vision through pastoral oversight of all worship staff and impact team members. The primary office for this position will be at the Stones Crossing Campus.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Craft overall vision of the worship ministry in alignment with Emmanuel’s vision to see people come to Christ and grow in Christ.
- Support and equip all worship staff and worship impact team members through centralized worship processes.
- Assist in creating weekend worship sets and arrangements.
- Provide oversight to Regional Worship Directors.
- Lead worship planning meetings for weekend services as well as all worship-related events.
- Champion the needs of the worship staff to the Pastor of Weekend Services.
- Lead worship team meetings to review practical, pastoral, and worship-related matters.
- Work with Regional Worship Directors to recruit and hire worship-related staff/personnel as needed.
- Respond to Staff Leadership Team concerns and questions related to worship.
- Work with the Weekend Services Team to craft the overall worship experience.
- Create and maintain efficient and effective systems for recruiting, auditioning, and onboarding new worship impact team members including INFUSE environments.
- Oversee and approve the Regional Worship Directors with scheduling for all worship impact team members.
- Provide support and assistance to the Regional Worship Directors concerning the continued development of worship impact team members.
- Create job descriptions for all worship staff and Impact Team roles.
- Lead worship for weekend services at Emmanuel Church (50-75% of the time).
- Assist Emmanuel Church staff with special services and events when requested.
- Foster and champion, a healthy staff culture by adhering to Emmanuel staff values and through a growing personal relationship with Christ.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant area (Worship/Music Ministry and/or Biblical/Theological Studies), preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of worship leading in a local church. Preferably a minimum of 2 years of pastoral ministry in a local church.
- Demonstrate pastoral sensibilities in the desire to move people forward in the ongoing transformation of their hearts in Christlikeness.
- Highly proficient skills in voice, piano, and/or guitar.
- Proven administrative and organizational skills.
- Possess the ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion with personal and ministry information.
- Demonstrate effective problem-solving skills.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and environments effectively within a team-based setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and DAW (Ableton) applications.
Knowledge and Skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills with experience in conflict resolution
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational/administrative skills and ability to manage multiple tasks and projects
- Ability to learn and use Emmanuel’s systems (Rock, Planning Center, etc.) and learn and adapt to new technology
- Demonstrate ability to work independently and as part of a team in a flexible and cooperative manner, self-motivated
- Demonstrate confidentiality and discretion when handling personal and ministry information
- Demonstrate a servant heart with spiritual maturity and sensitivity
