DOG Trainer/ Enrichment Specialist
Emma Marie’s Dog Grooming & Daycare is looking for an experienced, patient, and confident Dog Trainer to join our Daycare & Boarding team!
This position will play an important role in our Enrichment-Based Daycare program, working one-on-one with dogs while also helping our daycare staff create a calmer, safer, and more well-mannered pack environment.
We are looking for someone who truly understands dog behavior, has hands-on training experience, and enjoys working with both dogs and people. The right candidate will be comfortable coaching staff, demonstrating training techniques, and helping our team recognize and manage behaviors before they become problems.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead and oversee our Enrichment-Based Daycare program including but not limited to: scent work, agility, basic training, etc.
- Work individually with dogs on manners, engagement, impulse control, and obedience
- Safely introduce and utilize dog treadmills and slatmills as part of enrichment and exercise
- Work alongside daycare staff in group play yards to improve pack behavior and overall manners
- Coach staff on techniques for managing groups of dogs and encouraging appropriate behavior
- Help staff with gate and door control, recalls, impulse control, body blocking, redirection, and pack managementIdentify behavioral concerns and provide staff with practical tips, plans, and strategies for handling them
- Reinforce calm behavior, appropriate play, engagement, and responsiveness to staffHelp create a consistent training approach across our daycare and boarding programs
- Assist with maintaining a safe, structured, and positive environment for both dogs and staff
- Communicate clearly with management and team members regarding individual dog behaviors and needs
What We’re Looking For:
- Previous professional dog training experience is required
- Strong understanding of canine behavior, body language, and group dynamics
- Extensive hands-on experience working with dogs
- Patience, confidence, and excellent communication skills
- Ability to remain calm and consistent in a busy daycare environment
- Comfortable working with dogs of different sizes, breeds, temperaments, and energy levels
- Ability to confidently coach and teach other staff members
- Strong understanding of safe group play and pack management
- Previous treadmill and/or slatmill experience is highly recommended
- Reliable, dependable, and comfortable working as part of a team
- Willingness to actively work alongside our daycare staff rather than simply observe
Projected Schedule: Monday–Friday, approximately 8:30 AM–1:30 PM (additional hours available for the right candidate!) Some specific weekend hours when training and during team members training.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced trainer who enjoys not only working with individual dogs, but also teaching people how to better understand, manage, and communicate with the dogs in their care.
