Senior Engineer, Electrical & Instrumentation
Location: Cincinnati, OH (Onsite)
About the Role
Emery Oleochemicals is seeking a Senior Electrical & Instrumentation Engineer (EL6) to serve as a technical leader supporting the reliability, safety, and performance of our chemical manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for driving electrical and instrumentation strategy, leading projects, and partnering cross-functionally to deliver sustainable operational improvements within a PSM-regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
Reliability & Asset Performance
- Lead complex troubleshooting and root cause analysis for electrical and instrumentation failures
- Develop and implement site-wide reliability strategies to improve uptime and reduce maintenance costs
- Optimize predictive and preventive maintenance programs for critical E&I systems
Project Engineering & Execution
- Lead capital and expense projects for electrical distribution, instrumentation, and control systems
- Develop scopes of work, technical specifications, and cost estimates
- Manage contractors and vendors to ensure safe, compliant, and timely project delivery
- Oversee commissioning, startup, and performance validation of systems
Instrumentation & Process Control
- Design, specify, and optimize instrumentation systems (flow, pressure, temperature, analytical devices)
- Support and enhance PLC/DCS systems to improve process control and operational efficiency
- Partner with Operations and Engineering teams to drive control system improvements
Compliance, Safety & Standards
- Ensure compliance with NFPA, NEC, OSHA, and PSM standards
- Lead or support PSM initiatives, including MOC, PHA participation, and incident investigations
- Maintain and improve E&I standards, documentation, and procedures
Leadership & Continuous Improvement
- Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives related to automation, reliability, and energy efficiency
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers, technicians, and maintenance teams
- Act as a subject matter expert and key resource across the site
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- 8–10 years of experience in electrical and instrumentation engineering within a chemical, petrochemical, or industrial manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of electrical distribution systems, motor controls, and instrumentation
- Hands-on experience with PLC/DCS systems (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Honeywell, DeltaV)
- Experience working in a PSM-regulated environment with strong knowledge of safety standards
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in oleochemical, specialty chemicals, or batch processing environments
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensure
- Experience with automation, digitalization, or advanced process control systems
- Knowledge of hazardous area classification (Class I, Div I/II)

Salary : $120,000 - $140,000
