POSITION TITLE: Librarian/Media Specialist (190 days) for the 2026-2027 School Year
LOCATION(S): Emerson ES
START DATE: July 27, 2026
JOB DESCRIPTION:
• Makes resources available to students and teachers through a systematically developed collection within the school and through access to resources outside the school
• Provides access to the library media center collection through the management of an accurate and efficient organization and retrieval system
• Assists students in identifying, locating, and interpreting information in the library media center
• Provides access to the library media center throughout the school day
• Informs teachers, students, parents, and administrators of new materials, equipment, and services that meet their information needs
• Offers assistance to the teachers in the selection and purchase of instructional materials and the use of information resources
• Provides instruction in the use of technology and media center systems to support the school’s curriculum and instructional objectives
• Plans cooperatively with teachers to incorporate information skills into the classroom curriculum and to assist teachers in developing resource-based units and activities
• Maintains appropriate SACS requirements as outlined for operation of library media centers
• Maintains prompt and regular attendance
• Performs other duties as assigned
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION OR TRAINING: Must hold a valid clear renewable or be able to secure a Georgia PSC service certificate as a School Librarian (P-12).
SKILLS: Ability and knowledge to plan, implement and administer an elementary school media program.
EXPERIENCE: Previous teaching/media specialist experience preferred, not required.
