Duties
- Greet patients warmly upon arrival, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere and efficient check-in process
- Schedule appointments using dental practice management software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix
- Verify insurance coverage, benefits, and eligibility utilizing systems like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
- Review and update patient medical records and treatment documentation accurately in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems including eClinicalWorks or similar platforms
- Assist with patient intake procedures, including collecting medical history and updating demographic information
- Coordinate treatment plans with dentists and hygienists, ensuring patients understand their care options and financial responsibilities
- Handle phone inquiries professionally using multi-line phone systems, providing clear information about services, appointments, and billing
- Perform insurance verification, claims submission, follow-up on unpaid claims, and medical billing tasks including CPT coding and ICD coding compliance
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations while managing sensitive health information
- Support office management tasks such as filing medical records, managing correspondence, and maintaining organized documentation
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or Dental Receptionist with clinic or dental office experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar dental practice management software
- Familiarity with medical coding including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/10 (International Classification of Diseases), and medical billing procedures
- Understanding of health information management standards including HIPAA compliance
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and electronic health record systems
- Exceptional patient service skills with professional phone etiquette and effective communication abilities
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to better serve diverse patient populations
- Strong organizational skills with clerical experience in filing, documentation review, and office management tasks
- Knowledge of dental terminology and clinic workflows is highly desirable
