Emerson College's Equipment Distribution Center (EDC) serves the students, faculty, and staff of Emerson College by vending media production equipment and support services for curricular use. The mission of the EDC is to ensure that its customers have timely access to production equipment in good working order and to provide high-quality technical and operational services in support of their curricular projects. The Day Operations Supervisor, Equipment Distribution Center is responsible for the successful daily opening and ongoing operation of the EDC.

Purpose of Position: The Day Operations Supervisor, Equipment Distribution Center oversees the vending of media production equipment at Emerson College between the hours of 7:00AM-3:15PM, Monday - Friday. The Day Operations Supervisor, EDC is an operational resource for customers during checkouts, supporting technical questions and concerns. Additionally, the Day Operations Supervisor shares responsibility supervising approximately fifty student employees.

Your Key Responsibilities:

Open the EDC each morning and coordinate all classroom equipment deliveries for the day.

Supervise and perform the daily operations of the EDC, primarily related to the vending of film and video equipment. Supervision includes the scheduling of field equipment, ensuring all components are present and in good working order, and generation of repair tickets. Additionally, the Day Operations Supervisor performs equipment checkouts from start to finish for student and faculty customers, including retrieval of equipment from the storage area and walk through of equipment setup and operation. Duties involve the frequent moving and lifting of heavy objects.

Work in cooperation with the Operations Manager, EDC to coordinate advanced level and faculty equipment reservations.

Share daily supervision of student staff with other EDC full time staff.
- Answer questions and address basic technical issues from students or faculty when checking out or using equipment.

Under the direction of the EDC Manager and EDC Operations Manager, suggest and implement workplace and workflow enhancements.
Your Other Responsibilities:

Collect fines for lost, damaged or stolen equipment and update the vending database to reflect these transactions.

Assist the EDC Manager and faculty in the research of new production technology initiatives and development of an implementation plan from kit configuration through purchase to final deployment. Assist in final equipment deployment.

Stay current with media production equipment and industry trends by attending local vendor presentations and demonstrations, industry conference wrap-ups, on-site vendor demonstrations, and reading industry literature in order to better inform upcoming technology requests and purchases, as well as better support end users with their operational questions.
- Provide equipment-related instruction and support to faculty, staff and students as needed.
- All other duties as assigned.
Your Qualifications:

Strong knowledge of and expertise with various types of film and video equipment. Focus includes but is not limited to: film cameras, digital cinema cameras, DSLRs, ENG/EFP cameras, and lighting and grip equipment

1-4 years of experience at an educational or private equipment rental or repair facility

Must be a detail-oriented self-starter with ability to work in a high demand and fast paced academic environment

Ability to react quickly to complex challenges and improvise solutions

Must have strong customer service and written and verbal communication skills

G-Suite & /or Microsoft Office knowledge

Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner that is appropriate to the audience
- BA/BS degree required

Basic equipment repair
- Film and/or television production experience
Work Environment:

Service floor, equipment warehouse, and usual office conditions
- Ability to lift and move objects that are 50 lb. or less

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36.25
Hiring Range: $52,200.17 - $54,700.06
This position will be exclusively represented by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), Local 888 for purposes of wages, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
