Key Responsibilities
• Perform phlebotomy for inpatients, outpatients, Emergency Department patients, STAT draws, timed draws, and routine lab collections.
• Process specimens accurately and prepare or send them out as required.
• Follow strict patient and specimen identification procedures prior to collection and before any testing or aliquoting.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and protect electronic and paper records in accordance with VA privacy and information security standards.
• Identify, document, and address any collection or processing concerns promptly.
• Provide compassionate, patient-centered care with an emphasis on comfort, safety, and professionalism.
• Collaborate effectively with lab staff, clinicians, and the broader healthcare team to support coordinated patient care.
Requirements
• Certified Phlebotomy Technician preferred.
• Minimum of three years of phlebotomy experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
• Strong venipuncture skills, attention to detail, and excellent patient interaction.
• Ability to pass a background check and complete the VA credentialing process.
