Emerging Tech is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant Technician to support the James J. Peters VA Medical Center. This role is ideal for professionals with a strong background in veterinary medicine, animal care, and laboratory procedures. The selected candidate will assist in providing high-quality veterinary care for research animals while ensuring compliance with all ethical and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians in examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures.
- Handle, restrain, and monitor laboratory animals to ensure their safety and comfort.
- Administer medications, collect samples, and perform basic diagnostic tests.
- Maintain accurate records of animal health, treatments, and research procedures.
- Ensure compliance with biosecurity, laboratory safety, and ethical animal care standards.
- Clean, sanitize, and maintain veterinary equipment, surgical tools, and animal housing areas.
Requirements:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Technology, Animal Science, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a veterinary clinic, research facility, or animal care setting.
- Veterinary Technician (LVT, RVT, CVT) or Veterinary Assistant certification (AVMA or NAVTA) preferred.
- Strong animal handling and clinical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a research-focused environment.
- Must be able to pass a background check and meet VA credentialing requirements.
