Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP)

QMHP will engage in care coordination, skills restoration, and assist with crisis intervention and treatment planning.

Provide therapeutic interventions to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis. This position involves engaging clients in a culturally sensitive and person-centered manner and implementing individualized safety plans and treatment strategies. The QMHP will also collaborate with other multidisciplinary team members to ensure clients receive optimal care during their stay.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Collaboration and Coordination of Care

  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Actively collaborate with other team members including medical staff, case managers, psychiatrists, social workers, and community partners to ensure an integrated approach to the individual's care and crisis intervention.
  • Ensure all team members are informed of the assessment findings and care plans and contribute to the coordination of services and appropriate referrals for the individual's continued care.

2. Family and Support System Involvement: Involve the individual's family, caregivers, and other significant support systems in the assessment and treatment process, ensuring that their perspectives are incorporated into the plan of care when appropriate.

3. Person-Centered and Cultually Sensitive Care.

  • Individualize Approach: Ensure that each crisis assessment takes into account the individual's cultural context, needs, strengths, goals, and preferences.
  • Assess the individual's recovery environment, housing, and living situation. Recognize and record any trauma histories, such as abuse or disasters, if relevant to the crisis at hand.
  • Document communication preferences, including language, modality, and any barriers to effective communication (e.g., hearing impairments, language barriers).

4. Documentation and Compliance

  • Accurate and Timely Documentation: Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of all assessments, interventions, treatment plans, and communication with the individual and their team members.
  • Ensure that documentation reflects key assessment elements, including physical symptoms, medication history, barriers to treatment, support networks, and any physical or psychological reactions to the crisis.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to all facility policies, state, and federal regulations related to mental health crisis documentation, ensuring compliance with required standards.

5. Crisis Intervention and Support

  • Provide Crisis Intervention: Offer immediate support to individuals in crisis, utilizing evidence-based de-escalation techniques, active listening, and therapeutic interventions to ensure the individuals safety.
  • Collaborate with the team to stabilize individuals, facilitate appropriate interventions, and provide direct care as needed.
  • Ensure that safety is prioritized and risk of harm is mitigated for individuals who present danger to themselves or others.

Qualifications:

  • Licensure: Must be licensed and registered as a Qualified Mental Health Professional or Trainee.
  • Bachelor's in social work, psychology, counseling, human services or a related field.
  • Experience working with children and adolescent facing mental health challenges

Experience: Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in psychiatric or behavioral health settings.

Background: Must be able to pass a criminal background check through the Department of Behavioral Health and Development Services (DBHDS) and a Central Registry check.

Driver's License: Must possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to meet work-related requirements.

  • Attention to detail and thorough documentation skills.
  • Knowledge of medical conditions and their impact on mental health.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in behavioral health or crisis intervention is preffered.
  • Additional certifications in crisis intervention or First Aid/CPR are a plus.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

Work Location: In person
