Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history documentation using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Administer medications, injections, IV infusions, and perform venipuncture with precision while adhering to HIPAA regulations and sterile techniques.
- Assist with procedures including catheterizations, suturing, wound care, and basic life support during emergency situations.
- Manage triage processes by evaluating patient symptoms to prioritize urgent cases and coordinate appropriate care pathways in an urgent care setting.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop discharge plans, educate patients on health management, and ensure continuity of care across outpatient and community settings.
- Document all patient interactions thoroughly in medical records, ensuring compliance with ICD-9/ICD-10 coding standards for accurate billing and reporting.
- Support infection control protocols and maintain sterile processing standards to uphold safety and quality assurance.
Requirements
- Valid licensure as an LPN or RN with current state licensure; experience working in urgent care or emergency medicine is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks; familiarity with medical documentation standards including CPT coding.
- Critical care experience or hospital-based background in areas such as ICU, trauma centers (Level I/II), or medical-surgical units is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology necessary for accurate patient assessment and treatment planning.
- Experience working with diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia or Alzheimer’s disease; knowledge of memory care and behavioral health is a plus.
- Ability to perform procedures such as airway management, tube feeding, specimen collection/processing, and sterile techniques confidently.
