This position's main objective is to ensure the delivery of comprehensive, safe, effective, cost-effective, and appropriate nursing care for patients across the age continuum (4 weeks to geriatric). This care aligns with established surgery center policies, nursing practice standards, and guidelines set by the Association of Operating Room Nurses. The Registered Nurse provides individualized nursing care to surgical patients, demonstrating a broad knowledge base to address various single and multisystem illnesses and injuries. They maintain control of the surgical suite environment and take responsibility for developing and coordinating safe care plans using AORN Standards of Practice. Working within the framework of EmergeOrtho's policies, philosophy, and objectives, the Registered Nurse upholds nursing practice standards. They report directly to the Director of Surgical Services. The s chedule for this position is variable, typically 3-4 days per week with 10-12 hour shifts, based on operational needs.

Qualifications and Experience
- Graduate of an NLN accredited school of nursing required
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse from the North Carolina State Board of Nursing required
- Must be able to achieve BLS certification within 90 days of employment; A CLS and PALS within 6 months of employment
- Member of AORN recommended
- CNOR recommended
- Minimum 2 years Operating Room experience preferred.
- Familiar with instruments and equipment related to Perioperative Nursing preferred
- Ability to be flexible and take on new responsibilities
Primary Job Duties
Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Plans and delivers patient care for pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations, emphasizing safety and infection prevention in alignment with AORN standards.
- Ensures sterility of supplies and equipment, customizing care to meet individual patient needs.
- Implements nursing standards, including perioperative nursing principles, aseptic technique, equipment care, and specimen handling.
- Administers medications and handles specimens following established policies.
- Demonstrates proficiency in assisting with various procedures, equipment, and surgeons, effectively communicating with team members.
- Adapts to diverse working conditions and seeks opportunities to expand competence.
- Actively engages in process improvement initiatives within the Operating Room/surgery center, identifying areas for enhancement to optimize patient care and participating in cost containment efforts.
- Maintains readiness of surgical unit and prepares OR suites according to patient requirements and procedure types.
- Ensures equipment is maintained in clean and functional condition.
- Acts as charge nurse, as assigned.
- Assure that all required educational needs are met; ie. BLS, ACLS, PALS, and Courses.
- Completes the Perioperative Record, charge sheets, and other appropriate paperwork accurately.
- Assist in the revision and development of policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned.
