Emergency Food Network (EFN) ensures that everyone in Pierce County has reliable access to the food they need. Since 1982, EFN has been the backbone of our community’s emergency food system, distributing more than 14 million pounds of food each year to more than 75 food pantries, meal sites, and shelters. Our food comes from many sources: local donations, government Programs, and direct purchasing—all coordinated to create a dependable, nutritious supply for our neighbors.
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
The Order Fulfillment Specialist supports the efficient operation of a mission-driven food distribution warehouse by managing inventory accuracy, building and fulfilling food orders for partner pantries, and ensuring safe, timely movement of products throughout the facility. This role involves daily inventory counts, receiving and recording stock, operating forklifts and pallet jacks, loading and unloading trucks, and maintaining quality control standards to identify and resolve discrepancies. The specialist regularly lifts up to 50 pounds, maintains clean and safe warehouse and facility spaces, follows established systems and procedures, and communicates professionally with staff, volunteers, donors, and vendors, while providing operational support and insights to the warehouse manager and leadership team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Participate in inventory management by conducting periodic physical counts, ensuring proper asset tagging, and investigating and resolving inventory discrepancies.
- Understand all internal systems, processes, and procedures.
- Maintains quality control programs to ensure each inventory adjustment is consistent with company standards including identifying root causes of inaccuracies and discrepancies.
- Provide insights to company leadership and team members regarding inventory processes, controls, and advancements.
- Operate forklifts and powered/manual pallet jacks in a safe manner.
- Maintain professional appearance and demeanor when interacting with the public including donors, and vendors.
- Build orders for food pantries, including physically moving products weighing up to 50 lbs. multiple times per day.
- Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Load/unload trucks; receive and count stock items, and record data manually or using a computer.
- Complete timely pickups of food donations and deliver pantry orders as scheduled.
- Count inventory daily.
- Cleaning and upkeep of the warehouse, administrative space, restrooms, kitchen, and exterior of the facility daily.
- Other duties as assigned when needed by the warehouse manager
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Forklift experience required; certification preferred; able to operate powered pallet jacks
- Able to work well in a team environment
- Able to communicate effectively with volunteers, staff, and the general public
- Competent use of MS Office application, Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Knowledge of Flowtrac, inventory systems, etc.
- Basic math, reading, and writing abilities
- High School or equivalent preferred
- High standards of cleanliness and attention to detail
- Capable of lifting a minimum of 50 pounds and able to endure up to 8 hours of physical work per day
- Has current WA state driver’s license and valid insurance
WORK SCHEDULE:
Full-time Monday to Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. Overtime paid for any hours worked over 40 each week
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires continuous talking and listening, frequent walking and standing, and occasional lifting (up to 25 pounds).
COMPENSATION:
Hourly pay at $25-$26 per hour, depending on experience

- 2 weeks of vacation accrued during first year, increases to 3 weeks’ vacation in second year and third year, up to a maximum of 4 weeks per year after 4 years of employment
