Registered Nurse Manager

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dependable Nurse Manager to oversee nursing services in a fast-paced emergency room environment. The Nurse Manager is responsible for both clinical and administrative duties, including supervising nursing staff, supporting patient care, maintaining regulatory compliance, and ensuring continuity of care on a shift-by-shift basis.

The ideal candidate is a licensed Registered Nurse with strong emergency care experience, leadership ability, excellent communication skills, and the ability to remain calm and organized in high-pressure situations.

Key Responsibilities

The Nurse Manager will be responsible for:

• Supervising nursing staff and supporting daily nursing operations.
• Assigning responsibilities, delegating duties, and evaluating staff performance.
• Providing direct patient care when needed, including assessment, triage, treatment support, and emergency nursing procedures.
• Overseeing continuity of patient care during assigned shifts.
• Assessing and identifying actual or potential patient health concerns.
• Communicating patient needs, concerns, and changes in condition to physicians and appropriate clinical staff.
• Assisting physicians during diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• Developing, communicating, and implementing patient care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and providers.
• Ensuring accurate medication administration, documentation, and compliance with nursing standards.
• Supporting patient and family education, discharge planning, and home care instructions.
• Promoting infection control, patient safety, and a clean, organized clinical environment.
• Ensuring compliance with ER policies, procedures, EMTALA requirements, and applicable local, state, federal, and accrediting body standards.
• Mentoring, training, and supporting nursing staff in clinical skills, safety, communication, and professional development.
• Participating in quality improvement, safety huddles, staff meetings, and ongoing education.
• Maintaining confidentiality of patient records, employee information, and facility documents.
• Promoting excellent customer service and respectful relationships with patients, families, physicians, coworkers, and visitors.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates should meet the following requirements:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current Registered Nurse license in good standing.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• PALS certification required or strongly preferred.
• At least 1 year of ER or ICU experience preferred.
• Previous supervisor, charge nurse, or nurse management experience preferred.
• Experience managing or leading nursing staff strongly preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English clearly.
• Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced emergency care environment.
• Strong clinical judgment, problem-solving ability, and leadership skills.

Physical Requirements

This position may require:

• Frequent walking and standing.
• Bending, kneeling, reaching, squatting, pushing, and pulling.
• Lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Frequent wrist and finger movements for documentation, medication administration, and patient care.
• Ability to work in a moderate to high-stress clinical environment.

Exposure Risk

This position involves routine potential exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues, and other healthcare-related exposure risks. Proper use of PPE and infection control procedures is required at all times.

Pay: $45.00 - $48.00 per hour
