The EmergeATS National Security Team is seeking a senior DevOps Engineer to support a highly available platform that orchestrates the microservices of a modernized operational system utilizing cutting-edge technologies. This position requires an experienced infrastructure and automation engineer with deep expertise in Kubernetes, AWS, Terraform, and CI/CD pipeline management, operating within an on-site SCIF environment at Fort Meade, MD. The DevOps Engineer will design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure, automate deployment processes, and ensure system reliability and security compliance across classified networks.
Candidates must hold an active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph and a current Security CE certification prior to start. This role requires 12 years of professional experience in DevOps engineering, infrastructure automation, and cloud platform management. The position allows little to no work from home and will require a significant portion or all work to be performed in a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF). This position requires direct employment with EmergeATS (Kroll subsidiary).
Responsibilities
We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to support a mission-critical platform that powers a modern microservices-based environment. This role requires deep expertise in Kubernetes, AWS, Infrastructure as Code, and CI/CD automation. The engineer will design, build, automate, secure, and maintain highly available cloud infrastructure while supporting classified environments.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Automation & Cloud Engineering
- Design, build, and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure using Terraform, Python, and Ansible.
- Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions to automate provisioning, configuration, and lifecycle management.
- Manage AWS services including compute, storage, networking, messaging, and serverless technologies.
- Implement infrastructure testing, validation, and automation best practices.
Containerization & Platform Engineering
- Deploy, manage, and optimize Kubernetes-based platforms and containerized applications.
- Support microservices architectures using Kubernetes and related container technologies.
- Monitor cluster health, performance, and resource utilization.
- Implement cloud-native logging, monitoring, and metrics collection solutions.
CI/CD & DevSecOps
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines that automate application delivery and infrastructure deployment.
- Implement GitOps workflows and deployment automation.
- Integrate automated testing, security scanning, and quality controls into deployment pipelines.
Security, Compliance & Reliability
- Patch, harden, and maintain RHEL-based systems.
- Maintain compliance with DoD security requirements, STIGs, RMF, and NIST 800-53 controls.
- Support vulnerability remediation, audits, monitoring, and incident response activities.
- Troubleshoot infrastructure issues and maintain system availability and performance.
Collaboration
- Partner with developers, engineers, and stakeholders to improve application performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Provide technical leadership and support across infrastructure and platform operations.
Required Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph.
- Current Security CE certification.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 12 years of experience in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, or automation within classified environments.
- Strong experience with:
- Kubernetes and container platforms
- AWS cloud services
- Terraform, Ansible, and Python
- CI/CD pipeline development and automation
- RHEL administration, hardening, and compliance
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Experience with EKS, ECS, or Fargate.
- Strong understanding of AWS networking, including VPCs, NATs, and gateways.
- Experience implementing GitOps practices and modern deployment strategies.
- Familiarity with cloud-native monitoring, logging, and observability platforms.
- Experience supporting highly available, scalable microservices environments.
Pay: $100.00 - $106.89 per hour
