Journeyman Electrician

Emerge Electrical, Heating and Cooling
Winlock, WA Full Time
POSTED ON 7/19/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 11/15/2026

Job Overview
Emerge Electrical, Heating & Cooling is hiring a Journeyman Electrician to perform electrical installation, repair, and service work across residential properties in Southwest Washington. You work from clean, documented work orders and execute the job to code, to schedule, and to the standard Emerge customers expect.

You are responsible for job site safety, material coordination, accurate documentation of completed work, and timely communication when conditions change. This is a field-execution role with a clear handoff process: the Sales Estimator owns the sale; you own the work from job start to final inspection.

Key Responsibilities & Duties

  • Receive and review work orders before arriving on site; confirm scope, materials, and access needs with the office if anything is unclear.
  • Perform residential electrical work — service upgrades, panel replacements, circuit additions, outlet/switch/fixture installation, EV charger installation, troubleshooting and repair, etc.
  • Ensure operations pulls required permits, schedules inspections, and see each job through to passed final in-person or virtual inspection.
  • Install work to NEC code and Emerge quality standards.
  • Complete approved same-day small jobs (as dispatched) and collect full payment.
  • Follow OSHA and Washington L&I safety requirements at all times.
  • Maintain a clean, organized job site.
  • Identify and escalate any unsafe existing conditions.
  • Operate within license scope.
  • Update CRM at each stage of the job: arrival, work in progress, work complete, payment collected.
  • Post progress and completion updates in the job’s communication channel; keep internal communication in the system so every teammate is current.
  • Capture clear, well-lit before-and-after photos for every job — rough-in, panel work, completed circuits, and any discovered conditions.
  • Complete all required and close-out documentation before leaving the site or by end of day.
  • Power tools are provided by Emerge. Hand tools are supplied by the team member.
  • Manage your truck stock to maintain adequate inventory of standard materials; submit restocking requests through the designated process before running out.
  • Care for company tools and equipment; report damage or needed replacements promptly.
  • Return unused materials from each job to the shop or account for them in the job documentation.
  • Communicate with the customer professionally on site: explain what you are doing, what you found, and what comes next in plain language they can follow.
  • Treat every customer interaction as a trust-building moment for Emerge — show up on time, be clean and professional, and leave with the customer feeling good about the experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Washington State Journeyman Electrician License (01 or 02), current and in good standing (non-negotiable, no exceptions); valid Washington driver’s license with a clean driving record; OSHA 10 minimum (OSHA 30 preferred), with OSHA 10 obtained within 90 days of hire if not already held; ability to pass a background check and drug screen per company policy.
  • Proficiency in residential electrical systems including service entrances, load centers/panels, branch circuits, grounding and bonding, and low-voltage wiring, with code-compliant troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and work from blueprints, wiring diagrams, and single-line drawings.
  • Working knowledge of the current edition of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and Washington State amendments.
  • Comfort with mobile field software (Housecall Pro or similar) for work order management and job documentation.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 75 lbs occasionally; comfort working in confined spaces, crawl spaces, attics, and at heights on ladders and scaffolding; ability to work in varying weather and non-climate-controlled environments; manual dexterity and near vision adequate for terminating wire, reading panel labels, and close-up wiring work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • EPA 608 Universal certification (useful for HVAC crossover work).
  • EV charger installation experience (Level 2 residential and commercial EVSE); generator installation and transfer switch experience.
  • Experience in a residential service environment — not just new construction — including older housing stock with knob-and-tube, aluminum wiring, and undersized panels.
  • Familiarity with the Southwest Washington housing market: older homes, manufactured housing, and rural service conditions.
  • Experience using Housecall Pro or a comparable field management platform; bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus but not required.
