Overview
Emerge Colorado is a recovery-focused organization operating an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for adults working toward lasting recovery from substance use and co-occurring conditions. We're seeking a compassionate, grounded IOP Therapist to join our clinical team. In this role you'll deliver evidence-based individual and group therapy to adults, help clients build coping and relapse-prevention skills, and support them in reaching their recovery goals within a peer-integrated program closely connected to Rise House Foundation's transitional recovery housing.
This is an opportunity to do meaningful clinical work inside a program built around dignity, community, and long-term recovery — not just symptom management.
The Role
We are initially looking to fill one day of IOP programming, with the potential to grow into a full program schedule for the right clinician. (Note the specific day(s)/hours, on-site vs. hybrid, and whether group facilitation is included.)
Responsibilities
Conduct biopsychosocial assessments and develop individualized treatment plans that meet clinical documentation standards and HIPAA requirements.
Facilitate individual and group therapy using evidence-based modalities such as CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, trauma-informed approaches, and relapse-prevention work.
Provide care for adults with co-occurring substance use and mental health conditions, coordinating with prescribers and MAT support where applicable.
Implement crisis-intervention strategies and respond calmly and effectively to safety concerns.
Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation in the EHR, including ICD-10 diagnostic coding and progress notes that support Medicaid reimbursement.
Participate in treatment planning, case coordination, and follow-up care — including warm handoffs with Rise House housing and peer-support staff.
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, peer advocates, and recovery staff; support telehealth sessions when appropriate.
Qualifications
Master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related field.
Colorado clinical licensure — LCSW, LPC, LMFT, LAC, or comparable (license-eligible / candidate status considered). (Confirm which levels you'll accept.)
Experience providing therapy to adults with substance use and/or co-occurring disorders; IOP or outpatient experience strongly preferred.
Working knowledge of evidence-based recovery practices, including motivational interviewing, CBT, and trauma-informed care.
Comfort with EHR documentation and familiarity with ICD-10 coding and HIPAA-compliant record-keeping; experience with Medicaid/RAE documentation a plus.
Strong crisis-management and communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across a recovery-oriented team.
