Job Summary

The Pediatric Mental Health Clinician Associate provides trauma‑informed, evidence‑based outpatient therapy and clinical support to children, adolescents, and families. This role is ideal for clinicians who are new to pediatric work and eager to develop specialty skills as well as clinicians who already have experience with children and want to deepen their expertise in pediatric‑family therapy.

Clinician Associates collaborate closely with caregivers, schools, and multidisciplinary partners to deliver developmentally attuned care that strengthens emotional resilience, family functioning, and community connection.

Duties

  • Conduct developmentally appropriate mental health assessments, including clinical interviews, risk evaluations, and behavioral observations.
  • Provide individual, family, and (when appropriate) small‑group therapy using evidence‑based modalities such as CBT, TF‑CBT, EMDR (if trained), attachment‑based approaches, and parent‑support interventions.
  • Implement trauma‑informed crisis intervention strategies to ensure safety and stabilization during acute episodes.
  • Collaborate with caregivers, school teams, and community partners to support treatment planning, care coordination, and continuity of services.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans addressing concerns such as trauma, anxiety, depression, behavioral challenges, developmental differences, or family‑system stressors.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, HIPAA‑compliant clinical documentation within the agency’s electronic health record system.
  • Provide case management support, including referrals, care coordination, and monitoring of treatment progress and outcomes.
  • Deliver culturally responsive care that honors each child’s identity, family system, and lived experience.
  • Participate in supervision, consultation, and ongoing professional development to support clinical growth and fidelity to evidence‑based practices.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field.
  • Clinicians with or without pediatric experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Those new to child and family work will receive structured training, supervision, and support.
  • Those with pediatric experience will have opportunities to deepen skills in trauma‑informed, family‑centered therapy.
  • Knowledge of trauma‑informed care, child development, or willingness to learn these frameworks.
  • Ability to engage caregivers as active partners in treatment.
  • Strong skills in assessment, safety planning, therapeutic engagement, and behavior support strategies (or willingness to develop these skills).
  • Familiarity with clinical documentation standards, confidentiality regulations, and electronic medical records.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations while demonstrating cultural humility and sensitivity.
  • Training or interest in evidence‑based modalities such as CBT, TF‑CBT, EMDR, PCIT, or attachment‑based therapy is a plus.
