Our sales teams have two distinct segments. Although slightly different in scope of responsibility, our Sales teams are expected to drive revenue in sponsorship, advertising/media, and or exhibit sales across Emerald’s portfolios (Design, Food, Home, Gift, Merchandise, Industrial, Sports & Outdoor, Luxury and Technology/Marketing).
Business Development:
Emerald’s Sales typically start here. As a true hunter, the Business Development Manager is responsible for sourcing sales leads through active outreach. After identifying potential targets, this role will vet and qualify leads before facilitating a seamless transition to our Account Executive team to close the sale. The Business Development Manager will need to craft custom pitches for each lead, demonstrating how our media and events can provide a unique business solution for our clients.
The candidates that thrive in this position are resilient and detail oriented and can represent our brands with a consultative sales style. You must be self-motivated and can work independently to meet and exceed sales development quotas.
About You:
Proven track record and tenured business development experience
Experience in events, media, or relevant industry sectors preferred
Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM required
Strong outbound telemarketing and phone sales experience required
Familiarity with digital media advertising, including social media, is a plus
Account Executives:
The second level of sales at Emerald are our Account Executives. These individuals are responsible for managing a portfolio of existing customers, growing the customer base through net new sales, as well as up-sell and cross-sell beyond exhibit space (including and not limited to sponsorships and other non-booth products). Our Account Executives are responsible for closing and contracting new business. Responsibilities also include sales prospecting, managing customer service inquiries from exhibitors, sponsors, advertisers, etc., and providing other support to the event team as needed
Successful candidates for this position are self-motivated relationship builders and closers with a strong attention to detail, exceptional follow-through and ability to proactively solve tough client problems. You should be highly goal-driven, work with a sense of urgency, and collaborate with other members of the show team.
About You:
Experience in B2B sales, with a strong preference but not limited to tradeshow or media sales
Experience and/or knowledge of the tradeshow industry is a plus, but not required
Demonstrated ability to build strategic relationships with customers, partners, and key attendees while consistently identifying new leads and closing new business deals.
Ability to sell face-to-face, by telephone, via video conferencing and by email, with a proven track record in creating and building relationships
