Route Manager

Duties:

- Plan and coordinate daily routes for drivers to ensure timely and efficient delivery of goods
- Monitor driver performance and provide feedback and coaching as needed
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including tracking information and customer signatures
- Communicate with customers to address any issues or concerns related to deliveries
- Collaborate with warehouse staff to ensure proper loading and unloading of goods
- Conduct regular inspections of vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition
- Manage inventory levels and coordinate with procurement team for replenishment
- Stay up-to-date with industry regulations and ensure compliance with safety standards

  • · Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.
  • · Interpret, apply, and explain applicable laws, codes, rules and regulations related to assigned activities.
  • · Prepare and maintain accurate records related to vehicles and drivers.
  • · Train, supervise and evaluate personnel. Estimate and requisition supplies and equipment.
  • · Meet schedules and timelines despite frequent interruptions.
  • · Apply and interpret policies and procedures.
  • · Observe legal and defensive driving practices.
  • · Read maps and prepare efficient and effective routes.
  • · Prepare clear, concise, and accurate reports.
  • · Communicate effectively with others to exchange information.
  • · Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
  • · Operate with fluency a variety of technology devices, programs, and applications.
  • · Work independently with little direction.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide a safe work environment for employees and ensure compliance with Company, federal and state programs and regulations related to safety
  • Provide dynamic leadership to build, coach, develop, manage and evaluate high performance teams capable of meeting operational, performance, service and other objectives and initiatives
  • Schedule and dispatch drivers and provide quality, reliable and on-time delivery while efficiently covering routes and ensuring transportation costs are within budget
  • Ensure fleet maintenance and inspections are accomplished on time and documentation is current
  • Provide operational guidance in all work associated with transportation activities planning, organizing and prioritizing daily work, scheduling and staffing needs to meet transportation performance, quality and other operational goals. Identify and prioritize logistics needs and communicate recommendations to management to achieve operational efficiencies.
  • Develop and build effective relationships with customers, vendors and other business partners and resolve business issues and problems in accordance with Company policies and procedures while representing the Company with integrity and professionalism. Obtain feedback and information to ascertain needs and expectations to utilize in improving performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of records, reports and numbers to establish expectations, monitor and optimize performance and ensure an efficient and cost-effective operation. Develop and utilize key performance indicators (KPIs) that address productivity, on-time delivery, quality, service, and safety,
  • Monitor, analyze and evaluate route performance utilizing routing software and apply data and information to make changes that enhance and maximize fleet efficiencies and offer cost-effective solutions, including rerouting and usage alternatives
  • Research, recommend, plan and implement changes to schedules, staffing, systems, methods, procedures and policies to maximize operational efficiencies while minimizing errors and damage, managing costs and maintaining customer satisfaction and service levels
