What are the responsibilities and job description for the Security Officer position at Emerald Square Mall Security Department?
Interviewing to fill experienced part time and full time security officer positions on nights and weekends at Emerald Square Mall, located in North Attleboro, MA. Preference will be given to those with open availability on nights and weekends.

- Weekend availability, flexible schedule
- Must remain free of illegal drug use
Objective:
- Security officers are expected to continuously patrol and observe a Major Shopping Center, provide a visible deterrence to crime and disruptions, and report potential hazards/irregularities to Management.
- Maintain a secure environment through daily interaction with the public, vendors, retailers and management staff in a professional and courteous manner.
- Officers assist Emerald Square Mall guests (directions, escorts, lost & found), ensure access control, and enforce rules and regulations to ensure a pleasant shopping experience for guests.
Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
- Enforce and comply with company policies, post orders and Management instructions.
- Provide a constant visual deterrence by patrolling and maintaining high visibility at all times.
- Observe people and property and provide detailed written reports of incidents that occur within their area of responsibility.
- Enforce rules and regulations of the Shopping Center at all times.
- Provide access control to authorized vendors/contractors.
- Conduct foot patrols or fulfill standing posts in area of responsibility as directed.
- Verbally interact with other people within area of responsibility.
- Compose daily activity reports during shift.
- Follow chain of command and contact supervisor when a situation occurs outside of training & knowledge.
- Contact law enforcement or emergency responders when appropriate.
Skills Required:
- Security officers must be able to stand and walk for several hours at a time.
- Officers must possess superior interpersonal skills and be able to speak confidently and professionally in English with people or groups of people while positively representing the mall at all times.
- Officers must be able to operate common communications equipment such as 2-way radios, phones and cell phones.
- Officers must have exceptional written/verbal communication to collect data to write reports, and be able to work alone or with groups of people both inside and outside their direct team.
Requirements:
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Possess a valid MA State Driver's License or MA State ID card
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Clean-cut, professional appearance.
- Effective communicator (verbal/written); must write accurate and grammatically correct reports and communicate with guests, peers, vendors, and law enforcement.
- Respectful, flexible, courteous and professional attitude, even under pressure.
- Remain free from illegal drug use.
- Must be authorized to work in the US.
- Must consent to a background check.
