Job Summary
Emerald Engineering is seeking a motivated Mechanical Designer / Engineer to join our team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Mechanical Engineering graduate or someone who has completed a technical drafting program (AutoCAD, Revit, or similar), and is eager to begin building a career in mechanical/HVAC design.
In this role, you will support the design of mechanical systems for a variety of projects, including commercial and high-rise residential buildings, working closely with experienced engineers and designers who will help you develop your technical skills, industry knowledge, and production capabilities.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a full-time, in-person position based at our Tampa, FL (33619) headquarters. Candidates must live within a commutable distance of our office.
Role Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and production of mechanical building systems, including HVAC, piping, and other related mechanical components.
- Create and revise AutoCAD and/or Revit drawings, 3D models, and construction documents under the guidance of senior staff.
- Support engineers with calculations, equipment selection, and basic system layouts.
- Help prepare project deliverables such as plans, specifications, and reports.
- Coordinate with internal team members to ensure accurate, high-quality design documents.
- Participate in site visits to document existing conditions (with team guidance).
- Maintain organized project files and support overall project workflow.
What You’ll Bring to Emerald
- Associate degree or technical program certification in drafting/design OR bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or Revit from coursework, training, or hands-on projects.
- Strong interest in HVAC and mechanical system design for buildings.
- Ability to follow direction, learn quickly, and contribute in a team-oriented environment.
- Solid communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
