What are the responsibilities and job description for the Non Equity Casting — Come From Away / Claude | Emerald Coast Theatre Company position at Emerald Coast Theatre Company?
DESCRIPTION
Role: Claude Elliott track (Male-identifying)
Emerald Coast Theatre Company (ECTC), a 501(c)(3) professional nonprofit theatre in Miramar Beach, FL, is casting the Claude Elliott track for our Season 14 opening production of the Tony Award–winning musical Come From Away.
ROLE BREAKDOWN — CLAUDE ELLIOTT Gender: Male-identifying Playing age: 40s–60s Vocal type: Character baritone; a strong ensemble singer comfortable in folk/rock-inflected group numbers. Character: Claude Elliott — the plain-spoken, big-hearted Mayor of Gander who helps rally the town — alongside other townspeople and passengers. Like every track in this ensemble of twelve, the actor plays multiple roles and must transform quickly between them. Dialect requirements: The Newfoundland (Gander) dialect is essential for this track. Movement: Ensemble storytelling with chair-based staging, quick character shifts, and stylized group movement. Strong stage stamina required.
AUDITION Please prepare all of the following: "Welcome to the Rock" — the opening of the show, from the top through where the rest of the company comes in. Sing to live piano or a backing track. An up-tempo musical theatre selection — a contrasting piece, roughly one minute, that shows range and personality. A one-minute monologue in the Newfoundland (Gander) dialect — Claude's dialect.
VIDEO SUBMISSION ONLY This is a video (self-tape) audition. Email your submission (YouTube link preferred). Please include: Headshot and résumé (attached or linked) Self-tape video containing all prepared pieces. One continuous video or separate clips are both fine.
