Emerald Art Studio is a refined, nature-inspired creative sanctuary where art, community, and calm come together. We are seeking a skilled and passionate Painting Instructor who is proficient across multiple mediums and can guide students through a thoughtful, inspiring creative journey.
We are looking for an artist who is comfortable teaching oil painting, acrylics, watercolor, mixed media, and sketching, and who can seamlessly adapt their teaching approach across different styles and skill levels.
Role Overview
As a Painting Instructor, you will lead a variety of classes and workshops, helping students explore different mediums while building strong foundational techniques and creative confidence.
This role is ideal for an artist who enjoys both technical teaching and expressive, intuitive art-making, and who can create a welcoming, elevated classroom experience.
This is a part-time role, with flexible scheduling (weekday evenings and/or weekends).
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Teaching
- Teach classes across multiple mediums, including:
- Oil painting
- Acrylic painting
- Watercolor
- Mixed media
- Sketching / drawing fundamentals
- Guide students through techniques such as color mixing, composition, brushwork, layering, and texture
- Adapt teaching style for beginner to intermediate students
- Provide individualized feedback and encouragement
Curriculum & Creative Experience
- Follow and/or contribute to structured class curricula
- Lead both technique-based and expressive/creative sessions
- Help students complete meaningful, finished pieces
- Create an engaging, calm, and inspiring classroom environment
Studio & Class Preparation
- Prepare materials and setup prior to each class
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of painting areas
- Ensure safe handling of materials (especially oil paints and solvents)
- Support a respectful and welcoming studio atmosphere
Ideal Candidate
- Strong proficiency in multiple painting mediums (oil, acrylic, watercolor, mixed media, sketching)
- A well-rounded artistic portfolio demonstrating versatility
- Prior teaching or workshop experience preferred
- Patient, engaging, and confident communicator
- Passionate about art, creativity, and community
- Able to balance structure with creative freedom

Schedule & Compensation
- Part-time (evenings and/or weekends based on class schedule)
- Compensation: $25–$35/hour (based on experience and class type)
