Join Emdego Provider Partners as we partner with the Indian Health Service to recruit an Optometrist for a long-term locum opportunity in beautiful Browning, Montana. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced provider seeking a consistent Monday–Friday schedule with no call, weekends, or holiday coverage.
Position Highlights
- Location: Browning, Montana
- Facility: Blackfeet Service Unit (Indian Health Service)
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- No Call
- No Weekends
- No Federal Holiday Coverage
- Long-Term Assignment: Base year with two option years available
- Supportive multidisciplinary team
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive eye examinations and refractions
- Diagnose and manage ocular diseases, visual disorders, and eye injuries
- Prescribe corrective lenses and therapeutic medications within scope of licensure
- Perform and interpret diagnostic testing, including:
- Visual Fields
- Fundus Photography
- Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
- Document patient encounters in the IHS electronic medical record (RPMS)
- Educate patients on preventive eye health and treatment plans
- Coordinate care with primary care providers and specialists
- Participate in quality improvement and vision health initiatives as needed
Requirements
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) from an accredited program
- Active, unrestricted Optometry license in any U.S. state or territory
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification
- Two (2) years of recent clinical experience preferred
