EMCO is seeking an Engineering Technician III at NASA Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia. The Engineering Technician III performs assignments that are not fully standardized, requiring the selection and adaptation of established procedures and equipment. This role operates with general guidance, receiving initial instructions and support from a supervisor or engineer as needed, while independently handling recurring tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, cable, support, and maintain IT equipment and audio-visual (AV) conference room systems for both legacy and new installations
- Evaluate and recommend product maintenance activities and system upgrades
- Perform technical analyses of conference room software, hardware, and transmission systems using diagnostic tools
- Monitor data traffic and network performance to ensure high-quality transmission
- Provide high-level customer service and support to VIP end users
- Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and ongoing system patching
- Support root cause analysis for conference room incidents
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to:
- Network performance and integrity
- PC hardware and software
- AV systems including displays, controllers, and conferencing tools (Crestron, AMX, Cisco, etc.)
- Work with 70-volt indoor/outdoor Public Address (PA) systems
- Manage and resolve work orders related to Network, VOIP, and AV equipment
- Resolve incidents in accordance with established service level agreements (SLAs)
- Analyze and implement solutions using standard procedures, experience, and judgment
- Maintain compliance with company policies and operational guidelines

- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Education & Experience
- Associate’s Degree (AA/AS) with 4 years of relevant experience
OR - High School Diploma with 6 years of relevant experience
Additional Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Valid driver’s license with ability to operate GSA vehicles, including 12’ box trucks
- Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
- Must be available to work on-site at Langley Research Center during standard business hours
