POSITION SUMMARY
This position will be joining a team of seasoned EHS professionals who will help you hit the ground running! The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist will be located in Pleasant Prairie, WI. This position will assist the Director of EHS by driving initiatives, policies, local, state and federal regulatory compliance at the facility level. The position will oversee all general EHS programs for industrial chemical storing, blending, packaging and warehousing. Key responsibilities include designing, implementing and delivering facility relevant EHS programs, ensuring EHS training is facility functional, providing EHS leadership at the operations level, maintaining a keen focus on driving down all EHS metrics, and operating audit ready programs.
Position Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance, support and implement and maintain safety, and health/hygiene programs to ensure compliance with regulatory (OSHA, EPA, IEPA, DOT, WIDNR, etc.) and company requirements.
- Establish timely communication of these programs to the management staff and effectively inform and train employees in respirator protection, PIT, etc. Retain appropriate records and updates in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Perform safety observations (i.e. – Ergonomic, behavior-based safety activities, job safety analysis (JSA), PPE hazard assessments, etc.) at the direction of the EHS Director
- Implement safety compliance procedures, plans, and reports.
- Develop and analyze a comprehensive understanding of the effects of hazardous conditions and unsafe acts.
- Conduct daily facility-wide activities, such as inspections, housekeeping and internal audits, etc.
- Knowledge and skill to implement a comprehensive program to investigate and evaluate incident and injuries including root cause analysis.
- Plan and maintain records for on-going employee health screening schedules and maintain any medical records in accordance to federal HIPPA regulations.
- Maintain all OSHA required logs, records, and reports.
- Knowledge of OSHA’s Process Safety Management and EPA’s Risk Management Plan Programs
- Coordinate site employee EHS committee.
- Provide input in the engineering design process for equipment modifications or facility improvements to ensure compliance.
- Issue and oversee safety related permits as necessary.
- Manage one hourly employee who splits his duties between wastewater treatment and waste management.
- Manage Hazardous, Universal and Nonhazardous Wastes according to RCRA. Coordinate with the EMCO Environmental Services group as needed.
- Manage a small Wastewater Treatment Process in accordance with the Pretreatment Discharge Permit.
- Process Monthly Air Emissions in accordance with Air Permit requirements.
- Maintain the Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan according to the Stormwater Permit.
- Ensure Annual reports are compiled and submitted by deadlines: Emissions Inventory, SARA 311, 312(Tier II) and 313 (Toxic Release Inventory)
QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulations (OSHA, EPA, IEPA, DOT, WIDNR, etc.)
- Familiarity with cGMP preferred.
- Ability to lead safety improvement programs in a plant environment
- Must have strong team building skills and must possess the ability and will to interact with all of employees.
- Flexibility to accept new duties as assigned.
- Proven history of working in a team environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications required.
- Ability to work with autonomy and in a team environment.
- Able to read, write, and speak English.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in either of the EHS, technical, science fields preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as an EHS professional is required, preferably with experience in a chemical industry.
- Proven skills in formal/informal teaching/training.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
