Job Description The Opportunity The Center for Space and Atmospheric Research (CSAR) at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach, FL campus invites applications for a Research Engineer/Scientist position in the area of ionospheric physics, remote sensing, and in-situ instrumentation. The primary function of this position is to support the ongoing ionospheric research in Space and Atmospheric Instrumentation Laboratory (sail.erau.edu). Duties & Responsibilities: Contribute to the development of in-situ instruments slated to fly on multiple upcoming sounding rocket missions and small satellites, and/or to the development of ground-based remote sensing instrumentation. Analyze and interpret data collected from in-situ observations, ground based remote-sensing observations and collaborate with other scientists working on the various projects. Operate, maintain, and conduct experiments in a plasma chamber. Specifically, as it relates to spacecraft charging and flight instrument characterization. Help manage and task undergraduate students for engineering projects, as well as collaborate with other researchers in the Center for Space and Atmospheric Research. Present results at relevant conferences and aid in the writing of peer-reviewed literature. This is a 1-year, 100%-time appointment with applicable University benefits and a possibility of renewal for additional years contingent upon satisfactory performance and continued availability of funds. Qualifications Required Education and Qualifications: This position requires a Master of Science in Engineering, Physics, or a related field with 2 years of experience or a Doctor of Philosophy in Engineering, Physics, or a related field. The successful candidate should possess experience in the design and use of either in-situ instrumentation or ground based remote sensing instrumentation, as well as programming skills in C and Matlab/Python/Julia.
