Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using proper patient transfer methods like Hoyer lifts or manual handling techniques.
- Monitor patients’ health status by taking vital signs, observing changes in condition, and reporting findings to healthcare professionals promptly.
- Support medication reminders
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal consumption to ensure proper nutrition and hydration.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing regular cleaning tasks and adhering to infection control protocols.
- Provide emotional support and effective communication to residents, respecting their dignity and preferences.
- Assist with transportation for appointments or community outings using appropriate personal transportation assistance methods.
Requirements
- Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism or dementia, or in senior care settings like nursing homes or assisted living facilities is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality is essential.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is required; additional training in hospice care, Alzheimer's/dementia/memory care, or medication administration is a plus.
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform manual handling tasks; experience with patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts is advantageous.
- Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and recognizing changes in condition or behavior.
- Excellent communication skills for effective client interaction and teamwork within a caregiving environment.
- Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends or evenings as needed.
