What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Director for a Small Psychotherapy Group Practice position at Embodied Wellness Center?
Overview
At Embodied Wellness Center, we’re building a practice where therapists can do meaningful, sustainable work without burning out. We’re a woman-owned, Chicago-based integrative mental health group practice specializing in mind-body therapy. We are seeking a Clinical Director that either has strong leadership experience or is a senior clinician (with at least 2 years of post-full licensure experience) who is ready to step into a leadership role. Our ideal candidate is highly organized, administratively reliable, and committed to supporting a team of clinicians while upholding our mission of providing holistic, mind-body therapy.
Our practice is rooted in integrative, somatic approaches. We value clinicians trained in modalities such as Somatic Experiencing (SE), yoga therapy, dance/movement therapy (DMT), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, EMDR, Reiki, breathwork, or mindfulness-based practices.
This role includes a blend of leadership and clinical work, with flexibility to grow into other areas of the practice over time, including operations, program development, and overall practice growth. This is a fully remote role; however, candidates must reside in Illinois and hold an active Illinois license.
This role is a great fit for someone who:
- Has prior experience in supervisory or leadership experience, or is an experienced, fully licensed clinician (minimum 2 years post-independent licensure) interested in stepping into a leadership role and supporting the development of other therapists
- Is highly organized, detail-oriented, and administratively strong
- Enjoys mentoring and developing other clinicians while maintaining their own clinical work
- Brings strong clinical judgment and feels confident guiding others through complex cases
- Is interested in contributing to the growth and evolution of a group practice, including systems, standards, and culture
- Aligns with a mind-body, somatic approach to healing

- Provide individual, couples, and/or group therapy for adults in accordance with practice standards
- Maintain an active caseload (23 sessions per week for full-time clinicians; adjusted based on leadership responsibilities and determined collaboratively with the Practice Owner)
- Manage scheduling, availability, and client communication independently
- Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation within 48 hours
- Coordinate care with external providers as needed
- Remain in compliance with all licensure, ethical, and continuing education requirements

- Maintain and uphold high standards for clinical care, documentation, and ethical practice
- Support clinicians in case conceptualization, treatment planning, and clinical development
- Assist in onboarding and training new clinicians
- Provide guidance on complex or high-risk cases
Practice Development & Oversight
- Contribute to the development and refinement of clinical policies, systems, and best practices
- Support quality assurance, including documentation review and adherence to standards
- Partner with leadership on hiring, team development, and overall clinical operations
- Contribute ideas and support implementation of new initiatives based on practice needs and personal strengths
Job Requirements
- Master’s or Doctorate in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field
- Active Illinois licensure as an LCPC, LCSW, or LMFT
- Must be physically located in Illinois
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience post-independent (full) licensure required
- Prior experience in a leadership, supervisory, or senior clinician role strongly preferred
- Have strong written and verbal communication skills and a warm, relational presence
