What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Estimator/ Quoting Specialist position at Emblem?
Emblem is a California-based furniture manufacturer specializing in custom banquettes and upholstered lounge seating for commercial interiors. We partner with interior designers, furniture dealerships, and brands to create highly tailored pieces for workplace, hospitality, multi-family, and amenity spaces.
We are growing quickly and looking for a detail-oriented, technically minded Technical Estimator / Quoting Specialist to help us build a more consistent, scalable quoting process.
This is a key role for someone who understands drawings, dimensions, materials, and custom fabrication, and who enjoys turning complex project information into clear, accurate quotes.
About the Role
The Technical Estimator / Quoting Specialist will support our quoting process from initial request through final proposal. You will review descriptions, drawings, layouts, dimensions, finish details, and customer requirements to help prepare accurate quotes for custom furniture projects.
This role is ideal for someone with experience in estimating, custom manufacturing, millwork, furniture, upholstery, architectural products, or commercial interiors. Experience with upholstered furniture is helpful, but not required if you have strong technical understanding and are comfortable learning our products and pricing approach.
You will work closely with ownership, client services, purchasing, and production to make sure quotes are accurate, consistent, and clearly communicated.

- Flag items that require leadership review, engineering input, or production confirmation
- Help prepare revised quotes when dimensions, layouts, or finishes change
Drawing & Technical Review
- Read and interpret architectural plans, furniture layouts, shop drawings, and basic CAD files
- Use AutoCAD or similar software to review dimensions and project details
- Use AutoCAD or similar to create simple layouts and configurations
- Identify missing information or inconsistencies in customer drawings
- Ask clear follow-up questions when quote requests are incomplete
- Coordinate with internal team members to confirm feasibility, construction details, and pricing assumptions
Quote Process & Documentation
- Help create a more consistent, repeatable quoting process
- Maintain accurate quote records, revision history, and project information
- Use standard quote language for COM, power, bases, dimensions, lead times, freight, and custom details
- Update and organize CRM with customer and quoting information
- Document common pricing rules, quote scenarios, and product assumptions
- Support the development of internal estimating tools, checklists, and templates
- Help ensure that quotes are clear, professional, and aligned with Emblem’s standards
Cross-Functional Communication
- Work with ownership on pricing strategy and final quote review
- Coordinate with Client Services on customer communication and missing information
- Coordinate with Purchasing on textile, material, and vendor-related questions
- Coordinate with Production on unusual construction details or feasibility questions
- Help reduce bottlenecks by preparing quotes for review before final approval

Who This Role Is Not For
This is not a purely administrative role. It requires technical thinking, attention to detail, and comfort with drawings, dimensions, and custom project information. This is also not a role for someone who needs every task to be perfectly defined before starting. We are growing quickly, and part of this role will be helping us improve and document the quoting process as we go.
Why Join Emblem
This is an opportunity to join a growing, design-focused manufacturing company at an exciting stage. You will have a direct impact on how we scale, how we serve customers, and how we build better systems internally. You will work closely with company leadership and have the opportunity to help shape a critical function within the business.
