Seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager – Mining Equipment to support a major copper mining development in Arizona. This is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing all fixed plant and mobile equipment maintenance activities, ensuring the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of mining and mineral processing assets while supporting commissioning, startup, and long-term operational readiness.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead maintenance activities across both the fixed plant and mobile mining fleet, including crushing, grinding, flotation, filtration, tailings, water treatment, utilities, haul trucks, loading equipment, support equipment, and associated infrastructure
- Develop and implement maintenance management systems, work management processes, preventive, predictive and condition-based maintenance programs, and planning & scheduling strategies
- Lead maintenance readiness activities supporting project development, construction, commissioning, startup, and operational ramp-up
- Plan and manage major shutdowns, turnarounds, fleet outages, equipment rebuilds, and asset preservation programs
- Establish reliability-centred maintenance strategies, asset health monitoring programs, root cause failure analysis (RCFA), and continuous improvement initiatives
- Develop fleet lifecycle management strategies, equipment replacement plans, and long-term asset management programs
- Manage maintenance budgets, contractor performance, OEM relationships, service agreements, and cost control initiatives
- Build, mentor, and develop high-performing maintenance teams through recruitment, coaching, training, and succession planning
- Partner with Mine Operations, Processing Operations, Metallurgy, Reliability, Engineering, Technical Services, Supply Chain, Finance, and Operational Readiness teams to maximise equipment availability, fleet reliability, and plant performance
- Support maintenance planning, warehouse readiness, spare parts strategies, and inventory optimisation initiatives
- Support implementation and optimisation of SAP PM, CMMS systems, maintenance business processes, fleet management systems, autonomous haulage systems (where applicable), and other maintenance technologies
- Participate in engineering design reviews to ensure maintainability, operability, accessibility, reliability, and safety are incorporated into new mining and processing facilities
- Support sustaining capital planning, operational readiness assessments, technical reviews, and long-term maintenance strategies
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements across maintenance operations
- Support emergency response planning, business continuity initiatives, and other operational requirements as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Maintenance Engineering, Mining Engineering, or a related discipline
- Minimum 15 years of maintenance experience within mining or heavy industrial operations
- Minimum 10 years supporting large-scale surface mining operations, mineral processing facilities, or both
- Minimum 5 years in a maintenance leadership or management position
- Proven experience managing both mobile mining equipment fleets and/or fixed plant processing facilities
- Strong experience in maintenance planning, scheduling, shutdown management, reliability engineering, and asset management programs
- Experience managing maintenance budgets, contractors, OEMs, service providers, and multidisciplinary maintenance teams
- Strong understanding of mobile mining equipment including haul trucks, excavators, loaders, drills, dozers, graders, and ancillary equipment, together with fixed plant assets such as crushers, mills, conveyors, pumps, flotation, filtration, utilities, and tailings systems
- Experience implementing preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance strategies
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Experience
- Copper mining and concentrator experience
- Greenfield mining project experience
- Commissioning, startup, and operational readiness experience
- Experience supporting autonomous haulage systems (AHS) and fleet management technologies
- Project management experience on large mining or mineral processing operations
- Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) or equivalent reliability certification
- Experience implementing reliability-centred maintenance (RCM), TPM, FMEA, RCFA, or other continuous improvement methodologies
- Experience with SAP PM or equivalent enterprise maintenance management systems
