Summary
The Litigation Support Paralegal/Office Manager assists attorneys and the Executive Assistant/Contracts Manager to provide litigation support services, including, but not limited to responses to first party (complaints) and third party service of process (subpoena and wage garnishments), personnel records requests, and collect, review, and organize discovery materials (emails, contracts, and employee and student records, etc.).In performing these duties, the candidate will often interface with Ember Education Human Resources and Information Services departments, and outside legal counsel.

The candidate will also serve as the office manager of the Ember Legal office, which includes assisting the Chief Legal Officer with administrative duties, responding to inquiries, ordering supplies, and reviewing and directing mail and packages.

The ideal candidate will be highly organized and self-motivated and be able to work well both as part of a team and independently.

Education and/or Experience - A bachelor’s or associate degree is preferred; alternatively, a paralegal studies certificate will be considered. Minimum of two (2) years of paralegal experience in a corporate law department or law firm.

Language Skills – Ability to read, analyze and interpret federal and state statutes, regulations, case law, and legal documents.

Computer Skills – To perform this job successfully, the Incumbent should have knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook).

The Ember Education Legal Department is based in Bakersfield, California. The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate. This position is 100% on-site and the candidate must be able to work during regular business hours, five days (holidays and vacations excepted) per week. Remote work is not permitted.
