Job Overview
As a Tax Expert, you will assist clients with everything from basic tax filings to more complex scenarios, offering guidance, tax planning advice, and a customer-first experience. In addition, you will be a key player in growing and maintaining our customer base through community outreach and local events.
Key Responsibilities
- Tax Preparation & Advice: Provide expert tax preparation services for a diverse client base, handling a wide range of tax situations including personal, business, deductions, amendments, and more. Use professional tax preparation software to ensure accurate filings and maximize refunds.
- Community Engagement: Serve as the face of the tax service in your local community. Build relationships with potential and existing clients, convert leads into long-term customers, and engage with the community through local events and activities.
- Client Education: Host educational events, create accessible resources, and simplify complex tax topics to help customers better understand their tax situation.
- Relationship Building: Provide personalized, empathetic service to clients to foster trust and long-term relationships. Help clients plan for their future financial needs, including retirement, education, and other financial milestones.
- Customer Experience Excellence: Maintain high standards of customer service, addressing inquiries promptly and professionally. Ensure that clients feel supported and confident throughout the tax filing process.
Requirements
- Tax Expertise: Active, unrestricted credentials such as Enrolled Agent (EA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or practicing Attorney with significant tax preparation experience.
- Tax Filing Experience: Minimum of 2 years of paid experience in preparing and filing at least 30 federal and state individual 1040 returns per season using professional tax software.
- PTIN: Must have an active Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN) as required by law.
- Commitment: Willingness to work a consistent weekly schedule with at least 24 hours per week at the designated location.
- Technology Proficiency: Comfortable using tax preparation software and video communication tools. Ability to utilize CRM and sales tools to manage customer interactions.
- Community Involvement: An interest in creating tax-related educational content and building a strong local and online presence as a tax expert.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex tax topics clearly and confidently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual Skills: Proficiency in both English and Spanish is a plus.
- Holistic Tax Advisory Experience: Knowledge and experience in offering comprehensive tax advisory services beyond simple tax filing.
