Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain competency in all clinical and technical functions in alignment with professional standards.
- Verify patient identification and exam orders, preparing patients appropriately for imaging procedures.
- Perform imaging exams according to departmental protocols and ensure images meet quality and accuracy standards.
- Follow radiation safety guidelines to maintain a safe working environment for patients and staff.
- Complete exams efficiently without compromising patient care or image quality.
- Assist and mentor students and colleagues in exam protocols, procedures, positioning, and equipment use.
- Educate patients on procedures, ensure comfort, and address questions or concerns.
- Adhere to infection control and sterile technique protocols.
- Operate imaging equipment and associated information systems to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
- Maintain accurate records of patient information, procedures, and any adverse reactions.
- Follow protocols for medical necessity, coding, consent documentation, quality control, and reporting equipment issues.
Requirements:
- Certification with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent modality-specific credential.
- Valid radiologic technologist license in the state of practice.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers.
- Ability to perform the functions of a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting may be required.
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, imaging techniques, contrast protocols, and equipment operation.
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and time management skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1–2 years of radiology experience.
- IV certification.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to read labels, monitors, and patient information accurately.
- Frequent verbal communication with patients, providers, and visitors; able to respond to alarms and urgent situations quickly.
- Manual dexterity to operate complex imaging equipment and perform computer documentation.
- Ability to lift, bend, and transfer patients safely; handle supplies and equipment of varying weights.
- Capable of walking, standing, and maneuvering in busy clinical environments.
