Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cartographer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining maps and geographic data using advanced mapping technologies. This role requires a strong understanding of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and the ability to visualize complex data sets effectively. The Cartographer will collaborate with various departments to support project goals and enhance data-driven decision-making.
As a Cartographic Analyst at Embedded Alliance, you'll help build and maintain those charts. You'll work alongside government and industry teammates on a mission that directly supports safety of navigation and national security.
Work Location: Springfield, VA
Security Clearance: TS/SCI, with a willingness to obtain a CI Polygraph
What you'll do
- Convert, produce, and review Electronic Nautical Charts (ENC) and Digital Nautical Charts (DNC)
- Extract features from raster nautical charts, hydrographic survey data, and orthorectified imagery
- Maintain source data and source catalogs
- Support data conversion and migration efforts
- Take on developmental assignments as the mission grows
What you'll bring
One of the following:
- High school diploma and 5 years of relevant military or geospatial experience
- High school diploma, 4 years of experience, and GPC Level I and II certification
- Relevant bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience
Proficiency in ArcGIS and GIS production techniques
Knowledge of digital cartography and NGA data formats
Ability to analyze imagery and non-imagery sources for hydrographic products
Nice to have
Nautical or maritime charting experience
