POSITION DESCRIPTION: Responsible for performing prescribed medical sonograms on patients of the hospital and long-term care facilities, on patients of all ages (neonate, infant, toddler, child, adolescent, young adult, geriatric). Operates equipment, processes film and evaluates images for technical quality. Exercises professional judgment in the performance of procedures. Recognizes patient conditions requiring immediate action and initiates life support measures. Assist in the orientation and education to other staff members. Assist in other areas of the Radiology department and Hospital as necessary. Develops, recommends, organizes and implements work processes for the Ultrasound area. Works with Doctors and hospital personnel to achieve quality patient care in accordance with the facilities mission and philosophy. Participates in and maintains performance improvement activities to assure highest standards of care.
Qualifications:MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program with training in performing medical sonograms, either on the job or formal sonography program. Or graduate of a Medical Sonography program.
License: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or eligible
Experience: Must have experience in performing a variety of medical sonograms, gall bladder, abdomen, OB, small parts and vascular.
PHYSICAL / MENTAL DEMANDS:
- · Ability to think and work effectively under stress with frequent interruptions; to move, sit, stand, walk and bend intermittently throughout the work day, lift and/or move up 50 to 75 lbs.
- · Must possess sight and hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these sources to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
- · Use of mechanical and technical equipment required for the responsibilities assigned.
