Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive science curricula aligned with educational standards, incorporating topics such as biology, chemistry, physics, and earth sciences.
- Design interactive lessons that incorporate laboratory experiments, dissection activities, and the use of learning technology to enhance student engagement.
- Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a positive learning environment conducive to inquiry and exploration.
- Assess student progress through standardized testing, project evaluations, and formative assessments; provide constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
- Mentor students individually or in small groups to reinforce understanding of complex concepts like genetics, organic chemistry, calculus, and differential equations.
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, instructional design, and school-wide initiatives to promote academic excellence.
- Maintain accurate records of lesson plans, student performance, and classroom activities; ensure compliance with school policies and educational regulations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education with a focus on Science or a related field; advanced degrees or certifications in science education are preferred.
- Proven classroom experience teaching middle school science or equivalent age group; experience with private school settings is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of scientific disciplines including cell biology, microbiology, biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, and organic chemistry.
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques such as dissection, microbiology experiments, and research laboratory procedures.
- Familiarity with instructional technology tools for science education and assessment methods including standardized testing preparation.
- Excellent communication skills for working with students, parents, colleagues, and administration; ability to mentor and motivate diverse learners.
- Demonstrated classroom management skills combined with effective lesson planning and curriculum development expertise.
