Position: Member Care Representative
Purpose:
The Member Care Representative serves as the liaison between the member and the credit union. Responsible for providing account information, performing teller transactions in accordance with credit union policies and procedures, building rapport with members, and professionally responding to member inquiries.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Proactively supports the credit union team with exceptional member care to include greeting members upon arrival, maintaining interest, and expressing willingness to help.
- Engages with existing and prospective members to create a positive member experience through prompt, professional, knowledgeable, and courteous member care.
- Establishes membership eligibility. Explains credit union benefits and services in full and provides all necessary documentation to members and prospective members.
- Opens new member accounts, ensuring all required documentation has been received.
- Assists with daily member inquiries, including, but not limited to, share rates, loan rates and account inquiries.
- Reviews and processes incoming and outgoing mail.
- Processes share transactions and loan payments.
- Assists with end of day reconciliation of daily transactions.
- Performs account maintenance as authorized.
- Maintains base knowledge of consumer loans to effectively recommend loan products to members.
- Maintains Insurance Log for all members whose loans are secured by real collateral. Maintains contact with member and insurance company to verify insurance is compliant at all times. Follows up with member and insurance company regarding any lapse in coverage.
- Follows up on member requests to ensure member confidence in credit union’s efficiency.
- Files and scans all critical member related documentation, as appropriate, accurately and in a timely manner.
- Works as a team player to ensure the best possible member interaction.
- Supports manager with record retention and dormant accounts.
- Performs other duties as needed or requested.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Must have the passion for helping people and the drive to build and maintain relationships that assist members in meeting their financial goals.
- Ability to effectively ask questions, problem solve and provide solutions.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as loan applications and procedure manuals.
- Ability to plan and set priorities for accomplishing tasks and goals.
- Ability to make sound, independent judgments.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Must be able to use a calculator and keyboard by touch.
- Must be able to work unsupervised and monitor own work to ensure quality.
- Must have knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and Credit Union software.
- Ability to maintain consistent attendance.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review and test office system and procedure guidelines as required.
- Work within and promote credit union values.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to perform the duties of this job, to include sitting, standing, walking, reaching with hands and arms, use of hands to fingers, talking, hearing, stooping, and kneeling.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
- Vision ability required by this job include close vision.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Proof of high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- Minimum of 3 years data entry or personal computer skills or experience.
- Must be able to communicate (speak, read, comprehend, write) in English.
